Tiny Tigers - 3 & 4 year olds

The Tiny Tigers program was developed specifically for younger children ages 3 and 4 year olds. It is a fun class for both boys and girls with the basics and structure of karate. It incorporates karate techniques with games to promote physical and mental skills in a safe, secure environment.

This program offers children a strong foundation in essential character qualities such as courtesy, respect, and self-control. In addition, the program is designed to improve children's motor skills and enhance their ability to pay attention and follow directions. All classes are taught using the most fun, safest, and most exciting instruction methods available for this age group.

While the curriculum may be different, they will be building the same skills and knowledge of techniques as the Youth/Adult Karate students at a rate that is easy for them to comprehend. Upon graduation from the Tiny Tigers program they will be able to move into the Tiger Cubs (5&6 year old) program with no confusion or gaps in their training.

The Tiny Tiger classes focus on building self-esteem, respect, discipline and confidence among students while developing coordination, listening, memorization and attention skills. Studies have shown that pre-school children who participate in structured challenging activities such as the Tiny Tigers program earn greater than average grades in school.

Listed below are just a few of the skills that your child will develop in this class.

  • Focus
Focus will help your child's attention to detail as well as increasing their reaction time. They will excel faster in any physical activities. Your child will also become a better listener and a more focused student in school.

  • Teamwork
Teamwork is necessary for any young child to develop. The more confident your child is willing to work with others, the more he or she will accomplish. Your child will develop character, which will help him or her make new friends and possibly increase their success rate in life.

  • Control
Having control means making good decisions. Whether your child is handling a pet, or handling a problem, he or she will need to learn how to make the right decisions. Control builds confidence.

  • Balance
Balance is crucial to develop at an early age. Your child is beginning to participate in many physical activities that require proper balance techniques like riding a two-wheeled bicycle. Your child will develop good balance and a better posture through the martial arts.

  • Memory
Memorization has become a lost skill for most students in today’s world because of our technological strides. In martial arts drills and forms require your child to use their memory quickly and readily in order to perform expertly. This increases their brain power more than any search engine.

  • Discipline
Discipline is fun and rewarding for children when instilled through an encouraging adult. Your child will take pride in doing the right thing when rewarded by their instructor at the end of every class. Your child will also follow directions better at home as well as at school.

  • Fitness
Fitness is part of a healthy life style for mental and physical purposes. Your child will burn off excess energy while increasing endorphins to allow for a stress reduced childhood. When a child is encouraged from an early age to exercise it instills a lifelong discipline for fitness.

  • Coordination
Coordination reduces the number of injuries your child may sustain while helping them to be better athletes and participants in all physical activities. Your child will also learn left from right.

  • Citizenship
Citizenship is rewarded in and out of the karate room. Students are rewarded with stripes for their belts for accomplishing set goals at home as well as at school. Students also are rewarded for grades at school, WTMA attendance, participation in community events and karate competitions, as well as other events and activities that encourage your child to be a more well rounded individual.
